Naturally, this doesn`t mean that Body care should suffer. Even the ancient Egyptians delighted in natural Beauty Treatments. Just one more reason to try out various masks and recipes today. If you want to get your home spa day started with a bath you could, for example, try pouring 500 grams of sea salt into the bathwater. You`ll be doing your Skin a favour, thanks to the salt`s anti-inflammatory properties. But remember, you shouldn`t stay in the salt water for longer than 15 minutes. Another miracle worker is a Cleopatra-style milk bath: mix one litre of full cream milk with four dessertspoons of honey, and three dessertspoons of almond, jojoba or sunflower oil. Irritated Skin will be soothed by the honey, while the milk fat will make your Skin beautifully smooth. If you haven`t got a bathtub, you can also relax superbly in the shower. In this case, you should ideally use essential oils because they also develop their effects via our noses: simply mix five Drops of peppermint oil, three Drops of myrtle and five Drops of Lemon with a neutral shower gel - and enjoy!
Nurturing Body Packs Made at Home
Once it has been stimulated by a bath or shower, your Skin will be well supplied with blood. This is exactly the right time for a Body pack. A Papaya pack, for example, is fruity and refreshing. Simply puree the fruit, apply it all over your Body, and then wrap yourself up in a bed sheet. Rinse everything off with warm water after 20 minutes. And don`t Forget your face - which is where Tension often makes itself visible. Before starting a Treatment, you will Need to open your pores. Put some dried herbs into a bowl of hot water, and then hold your face above the bowl with a towel over your head, so that the steam can do ist work. After that, a home-made Papaya and banana peel is good: puree a banana together with three spoons of Papaya, and mix this with two spoons of sugar and honey. Apply to the face and cleavage with circular movements. Your Skin will be softened and your Skin tone Radiant. Sensitive parts of the Body such as the elbows shouldn`t be overlooked either: to remove dead Skin, simply rub in some Lemon Juice and then moisturise well.
Herb Types and Good Mood Snacks
Based on Skin type, different herbs are good for Body care. While People with normal Skin should choose camomile, lime blossom or rose oil, Skin that is oily or has impurities will benefit from parsley, peppermint and lavender. Sage, Lemon balm and camomile are good for mixed Skin types. You can also experience Wellness from the inside, so to speak, with happy Food. These are Foods that contain natural mood enhancers. To perfectly round out your home spa day, make sure you have some nuts, bananas, or maybe even a Piece of dark chocolate to Hand. And what about a Cup of tea? Infusions such as hibiscus, lemongrass or ginger provide additional Relaxation and re-energise. You could also try detoxing Drinks such as ginger water, or a tasty smoothie made of Kiwis, green Grapefruit, lime and honey, which provide vitamins and have a cleansing effect. So, as you can see, there`s nothing to stop you having a pleasant and Relaxing time in your own home.

Delicious Ginger - Ingwer-Zitronen Tee
Zutaten für einen Tee
Frische Ingwerwurzel
Etwas Zitronensaft
Honig zum Süßen
Tipp: Im Winter mit etwas Zimt verfeinern
Zubereitung
6-7 Scheiben einer Ingwerwurzel mit kochend, heißem Wasser aufgießen etwas Honig und Zitronensaft beigeben. Besonders lecker ist der Tee, wenn man ihn mit etwas Zimt verfeinert.
Pflegende Masken selbst gemacht

10 Terrific Uses for Coconut Oil
| Coconut oil is an unbelievably versatile substance, about which most of us know very little. It can be used for cooking, as well as keeping you healthy and beautiful. With plenty of antibacterial and anti-fungal ingredients, the coconut oil can offer many simple and natural ways to improve your life. |
Cooking:
What many people don't know about using coconut oil for cooking is that it has a high heating point. This means that the oil does not oxidize until 450 degrees Fahrenheit (252 degrees Celsius) and so it keeps more of its nutritional value after cooked. You can replace any oil, in just about any recipe, with coconut oil for a healthier meal.
|
Moisturize your body and face:
If you start using coconut oil regularly, you can say goodbye to your flaky, dry skin. It is a great, all-natural moisturizer for your face and body, and it will not cause your skin to be oily but rather boost its collagen production, keeping it healthy and wrinkle-free.
|
Aids weight loss:
Coconut oil has no trans fats, and it is a great source of a healthy fat called medium chain triglyceride (MCT). The MCT acid particles immediately go to your liver after being ingested, increasing the energy and metabolism in your body. Take a few tablespoons of coconut oil a day and help your body get back into shape.
|
Toothpaste:
Mix coconut oil with baking soda, and you get a home-made toothpaste with the antibacterial and anti-fungal properties of the oil. Store it in a cool place as it will turn into liquid at about 74 degrees Fahrenheit (23 degrees Celsius). You don’t have to use it all the time, just a few times a week will supplement your dental care greatly, in combination with your regular toothpaste.
|
Hair conditioner:
Just as coconut oil can moisturize your body and face, it can also benefit your hair. Rub it into your scalp, wait 15 minutes ,then wash, shampoo, rinse and style it as you always do. This will keep your hair healthy and shiny, as well as give you a wonderful fresh feeling.
|
Faster healing of cuts and sunburns:
Because it's a natural moisturizer and a collagen production aid, coconut oil is great for fixing damaged skin. Use coconut oil with a drop or two of lavender oil to keep your skin from peeling off after a sunburn, and heal cuts faster than ever.
|
Aids breastfeeding mothers:
Breast milk is key to the development of newborn babies. Consuming coconut oil will increase your milk supply, as the healthy fats are a key component to hormone production, which increases milk production as well.
|
Deodorant:
Apply coconut oil to your chest, neck and armpits to eliminate odors. The acid in the coconut oil will kill the smell-causing bacteria.
|
Replace the cream in your coffee:
You can use coconut oil, or coconut milk (but not from a can), as a healthy way to remove cream and fats from your coffee. This will not only increase your uptake of vitamins and nutrients but also add a rich, smooth nutty taste to your drink.
|
Body Scrub:
Mix equal amounts of coconut oil and sugar, and use it to scrub your body, while in the bath or shower. This will help exfoliate your skin and moisturize the new layer to make it soft and healthy.

The Health Benefits of Curcumin
Some of us are only finding out now what the Asian Indians, the American Indians and the Chinese knew a long time ago - that one of the most amazing medicinal herbs is no rare plant or an artificially created compound. One of the most effective natural ingredients is actually a common herb - the turmeric.
Or, more exactly, its active ingredient - Curcumin. The percentage of Curcumin is very low in the Turmeric plant, and so it needs to be either digested for a very long time, or one can take curcumin pills, that hold a high percentage of Curcumin, to treat a variety of problems.
The turmeric is a shrub with large and wide leaves, that envelope it and hide the flowers in its center. It mainly grows in south-east Asia, where it has been used as a cooking and medicinal herb for thousands of years. It is the herb that gives the traditional Indian dish, the Curry, its typical yellow color and strong taste.
The Curcumin hides behind its familiar exterior many upon many medicinal properties - it strengthens the immune system, delays (and may even prevent) alzheimer's disease, prevents neuron death, strengthens the cells, is an antioxidant, is an anti-inflammatory, helps keep sugar levels, helps the digestive system, reduces the risk of stroke and heart disease and most importantly - Is a great ally in the war against cancer, delays its spread and stabilizes patient condition.
Only recently, after a sequence of successful experiments, has modern science discovered the potential of the Curcumin.
It started in 2005 with a research into Alzheimer's disease, where it was found that taking Curcumin prevented the outbreak of Multiple sclerosis and
In the last 7 years, over 20 different experiments were made about the influence of Curcumin, and the scientific world was flabbergasted:
Delays and stabilizes the spread of cancer
Curcumin slows the spread of cancer cells in that it goes against their replication process and strengthens the protection of cell membranes.
Is a substance with strong antioxidant effects
Curcumin, because of the shape of its molecule, is very effective in preventing the oxidation processes and activity of free radicals in the body (Anti-Oxidant), and thus slows the damage to our body cells and contributes to slowing the aging of skin cells.
Increases the effectiveness of chemotherapy
Curcumin is especially effective in combination with chemotherapy, and although an antioxidant, encourages the process and increases its efficiency.
Delays and reduces the chance of deterioration of the brain in adults
Curcumin helps the brain activity of older people, and may slow the cognitive decline by 49%. Even the occasional consumption of curry, the popular Indian dish that contains curcumin, reduces the risk of mental decline by up to 38% (American Journal of Epidemiology).
Is anti-inflammatory and fights arthritis
Curcumin, when given as an essence by injection, fights inflammatory diseases and in fact is an anti-inflammatory in general, and is particularly effective in aiding the body to fight arthritis. Studies have shown that cartilage destruction in mice that were given the extract was reduced by 66%, and bone destruction in patients who received the extract by 57%.
Helps maintain a healthy heart and helps a sick heart return to action
Researchers in Canada found out that curcumin also reduces the risk of heart failure, as it helps the heart to return to normal and reduces the spread of scar tissue.
Anti-diabetic activity and reduces the risk of disease
In 2008 it was discovered that Curcumin also encourages the activity of liver enzymes that convert glucose carbohydrates, and creates anti-inflammatory activity that is required by people with a high fat content. The researchers suggest that consumption of small doses of curcumin daily is a great natural booster to traditional treatment, and significantly lowers the risk of diabetes in people who are overweight.
Fights cell death and the death of brain cells killed by Alzheimer's disease
Curcumin may protect against Alzheimer's disease, and inhibits and prevents cell death caused by the disease. In India, where curry with curcumin eat regularly, Alzheimer's disease is much rarer than in other countries.
Increases and strengthens the immune system
In 2009 researchers at the University of Michigan found that curcumin strengthens our cell membranes and thus increases the resistance against foreign infections entering the body. Perhaps this is one reason why curcumin fights cancer so well.
Reduces the risk of stroke, strengthens the body's blood vessels and lowers blood pressure
Researchers realized that curcumin slows the body's blood clotting activity, which causes a decreased risk of blood clots and strokes. Also, since curcumin enhances the blood cells, contributes to the strength of a body's blood vessels, lowers blood cholesterol concentration and fight infections, it actually lowers blood pressure.
Helps in digestion and absorption of nutrients
Curcumin fights harmful bacteria and thus facilitates digestion and reduces the risk of bacterial infection. Curcumin also reduces the accumulation of gas in the intestines, thereby preventing abdominal pain and swelling.
How to take it?
The best way is through the consumption of curcumin capsules containing a high concentration of the active ingredient in turmeric, the curcumin. You can find those in most nature shops. When eaten, most of the curcumin gets destroyed by the stomach acid. Taking concentrated pills negates that effect and allows the body to absorb a significant amount of Curcumin, by allowing the compound to go through the digestive tract and reach the bloodstream and from there to all parts of the body, where the curcumin does its work to improve our health.

The Nine Best Natural Sources of Iron
Iron is an indispensable element for the functioning of the human body, since it is an essential component of the protein called hemoglobin, which is responsible for transporting oxygen to red blood cells. Therefore, if we don't get enough of this mineral, it is likely that we feel tired and dizzy, and even develop anemia.
Although iron requirements vary by gender and age, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a dose of 8 mg per day for men and 18 mg per day for women who are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
Despite the existence of supplements that can supply us with this mineral, the best way to get your recommended dose of iron is through a healthy and varied diet. To do this, you'll find below a terrific list of the 10 best natural sources of this vital mineral.
1. Clams
Clams are one of the best sources of iron found in nature. In fact, an 85 gram portion of canned clams contains no less than 23.8 mg of iron. A great way to add more iron to your diet is using clams for sauces or incorporating them into your pasta or rice dishes.
2. Fortified Cereals
Although cereals are often an excellent source of iron, it is important to know what kind to consume. Certainly, grains that are rich in sugars and artificial flavorings are not a great option when it comes to a healthy diet, so the key is to find a fortified cereal that provides 100% of the daily recommended dose of iron. A one-cup serving of fortified cereal can provide up to 18mg of this important mineral.
3. Cooked Oysters
The next time you go to a seafood restaurant, consider asking for a good portion of cooked oysters as your main course, as only 85 g of this delicious sea fruit can provide about 10.2 mg of iron. Although raw oysters are also packed with essential nutrients for our body, the cooked version is safer for regular consumption.
4. White beans
While all beans provide iron, white beans contain the largest amount of it. In fact, just one cup of these beans provides 8 mg of iron. If you don't have time to clean and boil them, you can try the canned version, as long as you keep a watchful eye on your sodium intake.
5. Dark Chocolate
If you are a chocolate lover, you now have another reason to be delighted with this dessert. In an 80g portion of dark chocolate, equivalent to a small bar, you'll find between 7 and 8 mg of iron. Don't forget to look for dark chocolate with a cocoa concentration higher than 60% and, as always, control the size of your portions.
6. Organ Meats
Organ meats are an excellent source of essential nutrients for your health, including iron. Although exact amounts depend on the type of organ and portion size, beef liver, for example, can provide 5 mg of iron each 85 gr.
7. Soybeans
Soybeans are one of the main sources of protein in vegetarian diets. However, all people, regardless of their food preferences, can benefit from this product. A half-cup serving of soy beans can contribute between 4 and 5 mg of iron, so we recommend you use them in salads and other dishes.
8. Lentils
Besides being related to beans, lentils are another excellent natural source of iron. With a portion of only half a cup you can get more than 3 mg of iron, with the added advantage that you can cook lentils faster than beans. Lentil soup is an especially great way to enjoy this iron booster.
9. Spinach
Despite being known for its high content of vitamin A, spinach is also an important source of iron: half a cup of spinach contains about 3 mg of it. This vegetable is versatile and can be used to prepare a variety of dishes, from frittatas to lasagna, pies and salads.
How to determine your individual iron requirement:
Knowing the main sources of iron is a good start, because we all need this essential mineral. However, it is also important to understand that each person may have a different iron intake requirement, especially when it comes to people who already have an iron deficiency, or those who tend to develop anemia.
Check with your doctor or nutritionist about specific recommendations for iron consumption in the following cases:
• If you recently lost significant amounts of blood.
• If you are being treated with anticoagulants.
• If you have a history of kidney disease.
• If you have more than 65 years under your belt.
• If you have heavy menstrual periods.
