How to Make Homemade Organic Peanut Butter
By eHow Contributor
If you're having a hard time finding peanut butter that doesn't contain high-fructose corn syrup, low-quality vegetable oils and a long list of preservatives, you can make your own organic peanut butter with nothing more than a good food processor. The final product may not be as creamy as the store-bought stuff, but it will have a richer, less-sugary taste.
Things You'll Need
1 pound (16 oz.) organic Spanish peanuts
1 tsp. sea salt
1 1/2 tsp. organic honey
1 1/2 tsp. of peanut or other organic vegetable oil (optional)
Food processor
Food spatula
Instructions
1
Remove the skins from the peanuts if you wish. Including the skins isn't necessarily a bad thing — a lot of people believe this adds a great flavor. However, they can be removed. Place the peanuts inside a colander or pasta strainer. Swish the peanuts around and the skins should come loose. If you rinse the nuts, pat them dry.
2
Place the peanuts, salt and honey into the bowl of the food processor.

3
Run the food processor for one minute. Scrape the sides with a spatula to get the mixture back into the bottom of the bowl.
4
If you want a smoother peanut butter, steadily add the oil as you process the mixture for another few minutes. Note that the peanuts will release their own oil as they are ground up. Most natural, organic brands of peanut butter do not contain additional oils, but you can add a bit of organic vegetable oil if you like.
5
Pour the peanut butter into an airtight container. An 8-ounce mason jar works really well. Store the peanut butter in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for up to two months.

How to Make Peanut Butter at Home
By Carlye Jones
Making your own delicious peanut butter, whether you prefer creamy or chunky, is very simple.
Not only does homemade peanut butter have a fresher, richer taste, it's also healthier. By making your own peanut butter, you can control the amount of salt and oil as well as the type of oil. You can also avoid many of the preservatives and fillers that are often added to peanut butter. The process is also quick and simple; it's easy to whip up a batch of peanut butter whenever you want.
Things You'll Need
1 cup roasted peanuts
1 teaspoon oil
Food processor
Salt to taste (optional)
Airtight container
Instructions
1
Place peanuts in food processor. Grind a short time on medium speed until they are in small pieces; this should take about 30 seconds, but will vary depending on the type and speed of the food processor.
2
Add oil and a pinch of salt to taste.
3
Grind peanuts, oil and salt together on medium speed until the mixture forms a paste. This will take about 90 seconds.
4
Check the consistency. Grind a short time for chunky peanut butter, longer for smooth peanut butter. Add more oil if your peanut butter is too thick. If it is too chunky, keep grinding, checking every 45 seconds or so, until the peanut butter reaches the desired consistency.
5
Spoon the peanut butter into a clean, airtight container. Choose a container that you can fill as full as possible, leaving little room for air to dry out the peanut butter.
